  1. Those are some beauties for sure! The Uruguay note I especially like because I know how hard it is to find in decent condition Thanks for the huge scans, it is amazing to see them with such detail. Are you back in the collecting fold? Welcome back, or welcome still here, however you like... Dave
  2. A couple Moroccan notes from the friendly post-lady: If anyone knows specifically what kasbah this one illustrates I would appreciate the help. I could not find it.
  3. I can't wait, Madison! In the meantime, another Yugo note I just got:
  4. That's a wonderful note, Madison! I've been looking for some Yugo notes recently, as usual finding them in such condition is tough... Dave
  5. Thanks! Those are really neat. Not just the beautiful engraved scene, but the idea that a banknote can have a reverse with virtually no other writing on it, almost as if they decided the back is really "extra space" and they might as well just use it for a nice picture. Dave
  6. The backs of those notes are just beautiful Dave. Any way to see them at higher resolution? Dave
  7. Another fantastic batch of notes, Madison. I love the 10,000F one with fruits on the front, and the 5000F weaving note. Just marvelous stuff, I've got to get some notes from Congo! Dave
  8. WOW! Two fantastic notes, Madison! Those are a couple really key notes, they are just so perfect in their design and colors - they've got it all! Congrats on finding them in such nice shape. Dave
  9. Very interesting notes, BG - thanks for all the background information on them. I've never seen them before! Dave
  10. That factory looks like an Escher drawing, Dave. Amazing that this scene would be one to put on a banknote. Dave2
  11. Thanks Madison, though from the various notes you've been posting here, it seems to me that you're finding some treasures as well! I have a long want list as well. But not filling it saves me money, and keeps me "in the hunt". I would hate to be "done" with the collection. Dave
  12. Thanks guys, I was glad to see this one available. Madison, what's the question? Dave
  13. My French catalog lists it as "Rare", and neither it nor SCWPM give it a value above XF. So yes in this condition I think it is fairly rare, though not extremely. From the French catalog: The notes were overprinted by the French Vichy government during occupation, and only available between Feb 4 and April 15, 1934, and were withdrawn in May 1943 after Tunisia was liberated. Dave
  14. Here's a new one, Tunisia P-31. It was issued during German occupation of WWII. This is an overprint on a note printed in 1892 by Banque de France, that was never issued. Paper is almost like tissue paper. Dave
  15. French notes in good condition have becoming more scarce ever since I've been collecting them... but is this any different for good notes from anywhere else? Dave
  16. Whew, I'm back! Very nice Victor Hugo, Madison, though I'm really looking forward to seeing whatever Bonaparte note you get ***************** I am looking for someone who speaks French well, to translate my web site (www.FrenchBanknotes.com) to French. If there is some kind and interested person, please contact me. I've made a very brief start on it, just to make sure I can actually do it technically, but my French is poor enough that I'm sure the entire continent would be chuckling as they read it Thanks, Dave ***************** Here's my latest, nothing too big:
  17. Yes they are - that's a very nice note, Dave.
  18. What beautiful notes, Madison! That Tresor specimin note is quite unusual, all of them are fantastic though. Dave
  19. Wow, beautiful notes, Madison! This Cameroon note is really nice, can you show the back? The French Indochina note is one of my all-time favorites. I like the various type faces used on these notes. Dave
  20. Yes, that's a wonderful example of "Terre et Mer". I haven't found a nice one for my collection yet - I'm jealous! Dave
  21. There's nothing better than an addiction shared by all your friends Dave
  22. WOW! What a wonderful grouping, you must be thrilled! Dave
  23. Thanks Madison! They're not too rare, I'm sure another will pop up soon for you. Dave
