  1. What about this one? http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/5880-Russ...sspagenameZWDVW
  2. The letters on the reverse look crude and unconvincing... Patina is dark, so it's hard to get a good look at the features. I would pass.

It makes perfect sense. The only reason I asked is that I saw the page-based reference in the "Alexander" auction in Moscow. Thanks!
  4. I don't think FAKE is the right term here: FAKE implies that there is a genuine example in existence. I'd call it a FANTASY coin.
  5. What is a proper way to reference coins from the Diakov's catalog? I have seen page number followed by the coin number in some auctions, but also group number followed by the coin number. Is there an accepted standard? Thanks, Dimitri
  6. I have bought a couple of coins from this seller in the past, and they were fine. I have not seen him selling any obvious fakes... But, for such an expensive coin it is always risky. I prefer getting such coins on live auctions where you get opportunity to inspect them in person. If I was the seller, I would send the coin to the grading service to give it a more definitive statement of authenticity.
  7. Nice set. There is one coin missing though: 1/4 ruble silver
  8. It seems a common trick on eBay to play ignorance when selling fakes. Hope it does not work for the sake of novice collectors...
