  1. No need to apologise, Burks! Yes, tell me about it. The reverse is incredible, even more so in hand. To think that the engraver of the dies has managed to depict a whole building in miniature (bottom panel on reverse) with such detail is amazing - true skill!
  2. Most likely from what is modern day Iran and suspected to have been brought up through the Russian river systems and then made its way across northern Europe.
  3. This just arrived. It's a 9th/10th century Arabic dirham that's been used as hacksilver in Yorkshire (in the north of England) by the Vikings.
  4. This will be a good place to start: http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/
  5. Hello Duncan, If you can send me some clear photographs I'll gladly see if I can help. It's good to see another Surrey member here! Kindest regards, Clive.
  6. He's been away from CoinPeople for a while now and I'm led to believe taken a backseat from collecting Napoleonic material. He's alive and well on other forums, I'm told. Whether he'll return here is a different question.
  7. Welcome! I've travelled to much of Croatia and it is a beautiful country!
  8. I suspect that it's one of the £1 replicas found in museum shops. To the bottom left of the shield there would normally be WRL - Westair Reproductions Limited, but your example 'conveniently' has this scratched away. On the obverse the edge of the coin on the right hand side looks 'raised' which doesn't bode well, either. It also looks not to be silver but it could just be your images. Please bear in mind that I'm only going from the images you've provided. It's always much easier to spot these things in hand. All in all it looks like one of these that's been roughed up to try and deceive.
  9. Is it possible to get some clearer photographs? Specifically so I can see the area to the bottom left of the reverse shield.
  10. Some medieval silver coins finishing soon here.
  11. I do not see any pictures here, Luis, but am intrigued with regard to the error. Clive.
  12. Please take a look at this selection of sets and gold here.
  13. If you had asked me a few months earlier I would have sent you many of those dates F.O.C.
  14. This could be any of Henry II, Richard, John or Henry III as all minted shortcross pennies in the name of Henry. Portrait looks more like a John. Can't read mint from photograph.
  15. Looks to be a Henry VII sovereign penny with mitre above shield. Spink 2233/4.
  16. I am pleased to announce that Historic Coinage's February List is now live. Please take a look by clicking here.
  17. I've listed a selection of coins from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Barbados and New Zealand. Please take a look here.
  18. Please take a look at a selection of coins I've listed that finish this weekend.
