  1. In my opinion the images you provide make it look much more like a 4 than a 1.
  2. You're welcome. Just another thought, a hallmark will often be on the edge of the piece.
  3. I wonder how a pattern could become so worn. Perhaps it is a 1674? It's hard to tell from these images.
  4. I do not know as I've never seen one for sale. If it's silver then it'll be more than if it's pewter or base metal. If these were produced en masse then its value will be bullion/melt value, I suspect, unless marketed to Charles alumni.
  5. As for it being silver, have you tested it or does it have hallmarks?
  6. The first word at 12 O'clock in the first picture tells you what this is. SIGILLVM is Latin for seal. A quick read of the Latin reveals it's depicting Emperor Charles IV and relates to the protection of Charles University in Prague. This is a modern replica made in 1999 by Rolarsky if the "ROLARSKY '99" means what I think it does.
  7. If in absolutely mint state and in original case then here's an example at Bonhams. Gold price has risen since then but this appears to have some hairline scratches and some rim knocks.
  8. It definitely looks like a fake to me. However, weighing it is often a good indicator.
  9. What are these opinions? From my experience most UK collectors wouldn't bat an eyelid at this as the quality of the Royal Mint is so poor that it's exceptionally common for chips/clods/blocked dies, etc. to occur.
  10. A simple Google search of "Israeli prutah" brings up many results, e.g.: http://biblicalmites.com/prutah-widow-s-mite-pr249.html They are often called Widow's Mites.
  11. This one sold for $37 at Heritage in November 2013.
  12. Wonderful pictures, Pat! I know Art will definitely appreciate these, too.
  13. More coins added including Canadian gold, silver & proof sets.
  14. It's free. A junior hacksaw did the trick.
  15. I've only gone and bought myself a slabbed coin. I must admit I was intrigued by how a hammered coin would appear slabbed, as I've never seen one in person. But I did buy it for the coin and so I'm now contemplating the best method of breaking the coin out, especially as the NNC do not seem to be as respected as other TPGs. I'm thinking of using a small hacksaw to open the slab but would welcome any suggestions.
  16. I suspect this isn't rare at all. The Euro cent is copper plated, if I'm not mistaken, and so a common experiment done by schoolchildren to make them appear gold would be the answer, involving zinc. Here's a link showing how, but with other coins that are copper-plated. As for worth, I'd guess just one Euro cent, unfortunately.
  17. As for estimate of worth, these can be picked up for £1.
  18. Unfortunately this is a modern replica. It has the letters WRL stamped under the portrait which stand for Westair Reproductions Limited.
  19. I've listed some coins for sale which some of you might be interested in: http://www.ebay.com/sch/historiccoinage/m.html
  20. Try a hosting site such as tinypic.com and then paste the image URL in a post using the Image tab, located just beneath the smiley face on the post panel.
  21. Do you have an image of the reverse?
