  1. Oh my! Oh my indeed! And I was so looking forward to this coin too. It looks like the artistry and beauty of the old world coins are gone for good. I was so hoping for something more along the line of Ian's French Jeton. Oh well. As they say: c’est la vie
  2. There have been many reports by individuals stating that their Marine commem was an excellent strike, great luster, etc. What do you think of the one you received?
  3. Well Stujoe - If my experience means anything, you should have yours tomorrow. Tiffibunny, they are just making sure you get an extra special nice one
  4. Okay, file this under five kinds of weird. Yesterday when I got home there was a FedEx note stuck to the front door. Says they tired to deliver a package, but it required a signature! Required a signature? What’s up with that. Don’t remember ordering anything that would be of such cost that would require a signature, especially don’t remember ordering anything what would come from FedEx. USPS and UPS yeah, but not FedEx. Those boys are expensive. This morning I get an email from the U.S. Mint saying that they had processed my Marine uncirculated dollar and it would be mailed this morning. FedEx arrives today with package from yesterday, marked Priority Overnight for gods sake even, signed for, and opened. Wanta take a guess what was in the package? Yep, U.S. Mint order with the Marine commem. So, since when did the Mint start sending orders out Priority Overnight, with required signature? How did FedEx have my order that the Mint said in an email today it was getting shipped today? Weird. Weird in so many ways. As our government continues to operate in the most efficient way possible…
  5. Well, to resurrect an old thread... I read in the September 12, 2005 edition of Coin World on page 2 that the US Marine Corp commem is about to be a sell out. In fact they had to reduce the number of American Legacy Collection sets from 100,000 to 50,000 just to have enough individual coins to meet demands. Looks like a bunch of Marines were informed about its release, and Semper Fi continues.
  6. Yep, looks like you did hit the mother lode on this one. That bonus will pay for several of the lots you have already bought.
  7. And I am still waiting for Amazon.com to send me my five copies! Next year I will just buy from Art - He gets them sooner than anyone, and his price was cheaper than Amazon's! Go figure.
  8. Now now now Aetheling... Not nice casting stones across the pond at American coinage. I believe you Brits have minted a dreaded coin or two in your day... Say anything with old bug eyes George the 3rd cursed enough to have him on the Obverse, or what was the name of that other chap... Oh yes, Winston. I think you call them Churchills. Remember, stone chucking in not a family value
  9. Yeah, I ended up dealing with JP's Corner, even though I had to pay sales tax (which as said before, really chaps my ass) and shipping. Fast shipping, that is for sure. He ended up calling me to follow up on the order since I was first time, which was unexpected. Will order from them again when I need some supplies.
  10. No coins. Maybe a SAC or two left over from the car wash, but I simply do not run into cull old coins in my travels. I do however tip with $2 bills. Those are easy to pick up at the credit union, and a strap lasts us a long time in tips and small birthday gifts. But the coins be mine.
  11. Wow, that price for the spiral bound is 92 cents lower than Amazon.com prices! Great pricing Art.
  12. A 1936 Walking Half in with a bunch of Kennedy halves. Also found a 1945 Walking Half same way.
  13. If you do not live in Missouri the cheapest on-line place I have found is JP's Corner and he sells the nice self sealing 2x2's. If you live in Missouri, you will pay sales tax as well as shipping. But they do have good prices.
  14. A 1965 U.S. quarter. Pulled it and will retire it from circulation after 40 years.
  15. Friend in Australia sent me 10 sets of penny series for the youth at the coin club. A large penny, small penny, half penny and a two penny coin in each set. Dates vary, and grade all at VG to F. Will be great door prizes for the youth. Nice to have acquaintances in far off lands.
