  1. This was the top coin in a tubed bu roll of wheats I recently received. I call it "SUNRISE, SUNSET". corky
  2. Some mighty fine coins Corina... and what's his name?.... teehee. Sure does look like you are getting quite nice collection going. I like the Japanese rooster best. corkykile
  3. Yesterday I turned in a roll of quarters and 13 rolls of dimes. Then I saw a familiar box on the counter... one of those $25.00 cent boxes and asked if those were new pennies or other. She said they are from the feds but are circulated. So, I scooped up a total of $23.00 in cents. The only coins that are worth a mention are the three wheat cents, 39p, 40s, and 41d. The runners up are Canadian pennies 1963, 1978, 1979, 1980, and 1981. Also, there are about five rolls of cents that are lost to corrosion. There are about 200 copper cents and the remainder are zinc cents. The zincs have been searched and the coppers are still waiting. onward ------->-------> corky
  4. Aug 30 2008, 11:57 AM' post='395638'] i found today at walmart a 1950c series 5 dolla bill!!! yay! WOW Dustin! That is great! corky
  5. Thanks Stujoe. Right now I am having difficulty getting the file within the size limit so I can send them to the forum. I won't give up. corky
  6. Thanks Dock. After posting I realized my pictures got scrambled... back to front, etc., and I need to determine an appropriate size for viewing and transmitting the same. I hope my hubby can help me with the second part because the more I learn about Paint Shop, the less I know how to do anything. After company gets here and leaves I might have enough time to actually do something. Be back soon as possible. corky
  7. (((virtual museum is my vote, but I'm not an admin or an 05'er. Good luck!))) I think that is what I will do, after all, if they don't want me to do it then they can just delete them. It won't hurt my feelings if they do. Thanks for trying to help. I need to retake the pics because somehow between taking the shots and putting them on the computer the fronts and backs of the pages got out of order. I now think I can control that a bit better. It will take a little time, but I will be back... Thanks, Corky
  8. ((( A line of text will now appear where your curser is.))) Hey Youngun, You make it sound so simple. I have taken pictures but realized I did something wrong with them and need to retake in proper order. This time I am taking the pages out and displaying them separately, then see how they turn out. After that I will use Paint Shop Pro 7 to crop and reduce the pics and post one page at a time. I had pretty much decided to post them here in the museum. If I do it and I am not suppose to then someone will surely let me know. So... will get around to redoing the pics and try to get them up soon. Thanks, Corky
  9. Okay all you really bright coinpeople... got some questions for you all. I want to post pictures of my completed Lincoln memorial album pages. What I need to know is, where on this forum would the appropriate place to do so? And, what do I need to do as far as the size of file and such so that I can show the pages as they are in the album? Keep in mind that whenever I post a picture of coins I want to share or brag about it is only by accident that I get an appropriate size for the site. I use Paint Shop Pro 7 for resizing of the high resolution digital pictures I take of my special coins. Any help at all with this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Corky
  10. Does your spouses pocket change count? My hubby went to LA to meet with the big bosses and he came home with a few cents, and one was a well worn Lincoln Mem. The others looked suspiciously like the ones I turned into our bank a few months ago. Which is odd because we live about 100 miles north of San Francisco... corky
  11. An F-12 or better 1939 p Jefferson nickel. Unfortunately this might be one that I recycled at our bank a couple months ago... Corky
  12. The UPS guy brought me some coin reference books. A whole box full. 1. 'A Quick Reference to the Top Lincoln Cent Die Varieties' by Wagnon, Peterson and Flynn. 2. 'The Lincoln Cent Doubled Die' by John A. Wexler 3. 'Reprints' by Joja Jemz. 4. 'Over Mintmarks and Hot Repunched Mintmarks' by Flynn and Wexler. 5. 'The Jefferson Nickel RPM Book, Update 2001-2002' by James Wiles. Of course, my hubby doesn't yet know this is a very late or very early Christmas present from him. Corky
  13. Yesterday I found a series 2001 star note in my change! It has serial number G03111510*. That makes three for me. Yeh, I know, I'm a slow starter, but gaining. Corky
  14. Hey bandit, I haven't been doing this collecting for very long myself. One of the things I did when I started out was to seek out sites that show coins in different states of mintage. There is one site you should check, coppercoins.com , which has a lot of great pictures of the mint-caused Lincoln cent errors. I still go to the site frequently to check on the coins I find with errors to see if Mr. Daughtrey has the coin listed and what the attribution is for the coin. There are many other sites to check, and many books available to buy. Most of all, have fun learning and enjoying the hunt! Corky
  15. (((1967 canadian proof set from a secret santa!!!))) Wow! You are one lucky dude Dustin! Hmmmm... wonder where my secret santa is vacationing? Corky
  16. P.S. Oh, and I got two star notes in change at the bank when I cashed a check today. G03631903* and G03111510*... and to think I thought I would never find anymore. Corky
  17. Today I received, 1960, 1973, 1977, 1979, 1980 and 1990 U.S. proof sets. Yesterday I received 40 different uncirculated rolls of Lincoln mems, and one roll of 64 p uncirc Jeffs. This has been a good week! Corky
  18. Gosh she is a beautiful lady. You are very fortunate to have such a great picture of her. Do you ever wonder who she was? Corky
  19. Sorry I missed commenting on this when it was posted... but that is a mighty fine coin. Beautiful! Makes me want to begin another collecting line... as if I am not doing too many now. Corky
  20. It has finally happened! My hubby gave me four Lincolns this morning. Now, remembering what I said about turning in 278 rolls of Lincolns to our bank? I got at least three of them back in his change. There are two 69s bu Lincolns that I bought in rolls and have searched thoroughly, and decided to recycle the ones that did not meet my criteria for collectables. Living in a small town it was bound to happen. But so quickly? Oh, and yesterday, due to Dustin's star note mention, I checked my wallet, and voila! I had a 2003 series star note L00868588*. Now I know what to look for. Thanks Dustin. Corky
  21. Yep, I know what you mean about dealers. I like the coin shop I found but the two old fellas that own it are a bit stuffy. Another thing, it doesn't seem how excited I get about certain 'finds' they always seem to shoot down my smile and ego. They also make big noises about how long they have been doing this, as if I doubted their integrity. I always have to stress that I just wanted to know how certain anomalies are caused, and I really don't care what value it might have. It is like "there were thousands of these made", or "people can fake this error"... or they shrug and act uninterested... but... they always give me a little flyer for the local coin club. Unfortunately it is over an hour away from me in the lousiest traffic you can imagine... a place one wants to avoid completely. As it is the only game within reasonable driving distance I still go when I think the traffic has settled down in the late morning. I find CP guys and gals to be more helpful and kind! Corky
