    Otoman coins

Quite enigmatic, with their arabic writting.
  2. Thank you very much. I used google translate to find out what the text says, but I was curious about the use of the medal. Now I see. I will probably put in on sale for 35$ or try to swap it for something more interesting.
  3. My best example of 5 lei 1880, Carol I Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen.
  4. Good day. I have this big token or medal for some years now and I still have no clue what was it's purpose. Maybe you can help me.
  5. Yesterday I got a 2 kopeki 1818 and 25 kopeki 1827. The 2 kopeki looks pretty nice, the silver one is pretty worn out...
  6. I used clear nail polish on some bronze roman follis and after 2 years they look ok.
  7. They have coins all right. I think I have a small coin from Transnistria in my coin box. Other than some commercial trade with Russia and much contraband I don't think there is much else going on. The moldovians and romanians use "leu", prednistrovians and russians use... rubles: http://cis-coins.com...lver-coin?all=Y
  8. Please try to post more clear images (use macro) and if you have problems with the size limit maybe try using imageshack or some other method.
  9. Good day. I am not so knowledgeable of the grading and evaluation part and I intend to sell part of my silver coins so first I'd like to learn the ropes and the lingo. Actually I want to sell some of the modern coins so as to purchase older coins as I discovered that I's more into hammered coins that into nicely shaped ones. I would much appreciate some oppinions about these 3 very nice roubles. The one from 1842 seems to have a die crack of some sort. Is this a good thing or not? Would you say these are XF+, XF, VF+, VF... http://www.omnicoin.com/coin/1017988 http://www.omnicoin.com/coin/1017987 http://www.omnicoin.com/coin/1017929 Thanks.
  10. I have a similar coin and on the reverse it also has some kind of die defect. Let me know what you think about this:
  11. The coin is a fake, I have an identical one, but I did not pay and I would not pay for a fake coin. I keep it for educational purposes. In Romania there is an abundance of fake coins, even romanian coins are mass-counterfited in China... It is unfortunate for people that fall for these "coins".
  12. The list continuously changes in time. Lately I long for a XF sadagura, a beautiful coin with a nice story.
  13. I am new to the forum and so far my photo skills are lacking. Anyhow, this is one of my best new purchases. I do hope it is genuine.
  14. Let's see some coins from Transnistria, I bet they are different.
  15. There is always the option to use upload websites like imageshack so as not to burden the forum.
  16. Good day to you all. I gather coins since I was 6 or 7 yo. I don't always have enough time for my precious coins, but I'm tryin... I gathered up quite a few pretty coins and I will probably part with some of the ones I have in more than one copy. I have some roman folis and provincial coins, some medieval silver coins (these are my favourite ones) and quite a few modern coins, the most beautiful ones are romanian and russian. I hope the more experienced members will give me a hand in grading my coins and advice me in developing my coin pile into a proper collection. Thank you.
  17. I have a poltina / 2 zoloti 1816, 10,5 gram silver coin and 1 ruble 4 zoloti 1815 and I am a little confuzed by the fixed exchange rate. Did the exchange rate change in time? I also have a 1829 1 ruble / 4 zloti so this means sometimes in the 1830's the exchange rate changed.
  18. I appologise for the pictures, it's the best I could do for now. I would say it is a VF+ but I am not very good at this, so I am curious what do you think. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/9/dsc04669ui.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/198/dsc04667zs.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/832/dsc04668sv.jpg/
