  1. Too bad they'd only moved in to this house in 2005...
  2. My grandparents bought a bunch of random rolls of coins from the bank and dumped them in a treasure box as a Christmas present for me and among the nickels I found a GEM BU 1938 piece... although I suspect that's the one I've seen sitting on their bedroom dresser for ages...
  3. I'm too short to reach the top of the machine let alone see up there.
  4. Dammit. Didn't see "maybe 33". But now I vow to find me a double eagle in change...
  5. WHAT? "Oh, I only paid $20 for $850 in gold..." Whatareyagonnadowithit?
  6. If someone is putting their jar of coins into the machine when you are there, do you hover until they are finished? I almost did that the other day but didn't want to seem creepy.
  7. Woohoo! A 1980-S SBA and a 2004-P Sac without even trying.
  8. Ganked a 2007 Canadian dime out of the till, if only because it's worth more than a US dime nowadays!
  9. Someone jammed one of the games at work with what they thought was a token but what really was a 50 Euro Cent from Germany. Mine!
  10. Found some super nice cents in 10 rolls I bought today - among them BU 1972-D, 1973-D, and 1976-D, and a pretty purply-toned 1981.
  11. Great pieces! Smooth transaction, quick shipping, a pleasure doing business with!
  12. Went over to a friend's to play Halo 2 and saw a pile of change on a table. One of the dimes caught my eye from across the room, I went over, and it was a 1963 Roosie in super condition! I told them I was taking it and they said take the whole pile if I want; I only took 5 copper cents out of that. I stank at Halo, but I was a happy girl!
  13. I agree with Dustin - if the guy is genuinely interested in coins, he will love to talk to you (short of his store being packed) and maybe is more likely to give you a discount in the future. People like that are much more fun; who likes talking to a door-to-door salesman? RD, I think you're just anti-social I'll talk to the guy if only just to learn something.
  14. Was diggin' all the copper out of the register at work and found a 1953 wheatie.
  15. Okay, I'm a newb, what happened in the 60's to make chicks scared of coins? Dustin - lol, while I do have about 20 too many pairs of shoes, and my soap is moving to DirecTV, I'm a HUGE pirate at heart. What better treasure than coins?
  16. Generally my experiences with coin stores have been pretty good. The only problems I've had are when I walk into a coin store, people think I'm lost just because I'm a 20-year-old female (well, I look about 15, but whatever). Then, when I asked to see something specific, like Philadelphia mint Peace dollars, they still watched me like a hawk (no, they weren't trying to make themselves available for me to ask questions, they were staring at me from across the store). The one I frequent now is owned by the nicest guy; at least now I've frequented it enough for him to know I know my business! (except that one time I asked to see his Barber dollars when I meant halves... that was embarrasing...)
  17. I know I have done something stupid like spend a coin I found in circulation, but I can't think of what they were. Only thing recently is something sent to me in the mail never arrived. Oh well, stuff happens. When it comes to losing stuff, I am so anal - for example I collected "Treasure Rocks" and logged every type and color of "rock" I "revealed". Haven't lost one. Now think about those hunks of plastic vs. my pretties...
  18. Found a 1964 Canadian cent on the floor of the university radio station.
  19. Umm, how do you use Paint to do this? When I use the diagonal arrows to shrink the image, it just cuts the image so I only get a corner of it. Also, where do I find the pixel size of an image? -1 for Paint illiteracy
  20. Wow, thanks a ton! I would really appreciate that; PM sent.
  21. Wow! Very cool! It's always a blast to find something more than one type ago.
  22. Wow, has someone working for Coinstar wised up and shut the reject bin up so we can't get to them or something?
