I have a question. Are there any watermarks on your North Korean banknotes. The year of the issue are from 1998 to 2005. Thanks. smile.gif

As what I can remember, watermarks don't exist in N. Korean banknotes. There isn't much high tech behind that note, and even under UV rays, the only special thing is the special fiber material that has glowing fibers randomly placed on the note. The serial number does not glow under the UV light too. But I think that was on a 1000 won note. I would like to see the security feature on the recent 200 won note though.

Thank you for the answer and confirmation. I was kind of worried about the watermark on the banknotes. smile.gif

My North Korean note's watermarks are as follows:

1978 1 Won No Watermark
1978 50 Won Watermark in upper left corner amid the guilloche (Horseman)

1992 1 Won Watermark at left (Horseman)
1992 5 Won Watermark at left (Horseman)
1992 50 Won Watermark at left (Monument torch)

2005 200 Won Watermark at left (Horseman)

Hope this helps.

Thank you Dave. I have acquired four North Korean banknotes recently. Only the 2005 200 Won has a watermark, look like a flying horse, maybe as what you have mentioned - horseman.
