Definately nice, although something is telling me, something is odd with the Type I Japanese yen.

Not so much `odd' as worn and harshly cleaned by some previous owner. The poor thing hasn't had the best of owners by all appearances. It will take decades for than one to recover methinks. Irrespective, it's still a decent enough example of a relatively rare coin. wink.gif

I bought the coin for next to nothing a few years back from a well known coin dealer in New York. He's also a retired judge more known in recent years for his regular auctions of ancient coins.

Now that you mention him, he currently lists a Portuguese VF 1910 Escudo also for the same price (next to nothing...) tongue.gif
