Oh well, "it was alleged" ... I would not take that too serious. (The entire contest should not be taken too serious anyway, hehe.) By the way, we had a long thread, or even more than one

, about Lordi, the winning song, and the ESC in another CoinPeople forum. As for the 2007 €2 independence commem, well, "90 years" is a little odd in my opinion, but it still is a better idea for such a coin than Lordi or the ESC. From what I have read, there will be a BU set (20,000 or so) with a Song Contest theme.

The hullaballoo about Lordi being demonic is as old as the evil Elvis pelvis. It is rock music, and it is a show nothing much more than that.

So yes, such things should not be taken too seriously.
Anyhow, I am not too surprised about abandoning the Lordi commem. I think it was just excited talk at the time anyhow. As for the "90 years" being a little odd, well perhaps for other countries yes. However, if you are familiar with prior Finnish commemoratives, Finnish independence has been a common theme. A commemorative has been issued for the 50th, 60th, 75th, and 80th years of independence.
