I am still astounded by finding the S mint coins, I have very very rarely gotten them here.

I would say this time about 1/4 of the coins were copper, pre - 1982.

I can see this may add interest to this hobby, now my kids are fascinated, when my son saw the 1934 he was surprised something so old was in rolls bought at the bank. The cashier at the bank couldn't figure out why I brought back $14.00 worth of pennies and put it in their sorter only to buy another $20 worth.

Are you keeping all the pre 1982 or just the better coins?

I have given all the pre-1982 refugee status in my Duchy, they are awaiting citizenship, and hopefully after all the bureaucratic paperwork, debate in the House and Senate etc, they will be granted amnesty and a quick path to automatic citizenship instead of the coin machine at my bank.

Seems we had similar results in the percentage copper. Mine was just above 1/4.

It was funny to see the young ladies face when I asked for a "$25 box of cents". She had to ask the manager what I was talking about. hysterical.gif

This morning I got a similar reaction. The first 30 or so rolls produced a couple of S mints and a few early Canucks, but the last rolls in the lot had an average of 2 wheats each.

I have gone through 8.000 cents this week and saved somewhere around 2100 hundred of them. Post total results later.

It's pretty fun to do this. Total time involved was maybe 3 hours going through 2500 cents. That was with food, coffee, and potty breaks.

Oddly I only had one S mint, figured there would have been more than that. Pretty disappointed there. I think I'll get another $50 worth for next week. The copper-zing I don't even check except 1995's for the DDO.

What are $25 boxes?? Are those the "poor man's" version of bulk cents? biggrin.gif

I get them by the $50 unrolled bagfull!!!!

Will be going through them this week, so I'll give out the results on them.

BTW, with the coppers, is there anywhere to be able to sell those off as scrap? At about $1.50 in cents per pound, $3.40/lb for copper is a nice profit even at 60% spot, including the shipping there! (considering at about 30lbs. at a time).

I doubt they have a $50 bag. The girl told me the $25 box I bought was the last they had.

May have to go to the main branch for that......and I'm not going downtown without a bodyguard.
