Given the rise in the price of copper, I decided to buy $20 worth of cents at the bank this morning. It took about one hour to go through them, roughly about a third of them were pre-1982 cents and will be saved. But I also found the following cents in the lot:

CANADA
George VI
1945
Elizabeth II
1956
1963 x 2
1964 x 3

USA
1940
1944
1944-D x 2
1945
1949
1953-D
1957
1957-D
1958-D for a total of 10 wheat cents.

S Mints
1968-S
1970-S
1972-S
1974-S x 3 for a total of 6 S mint cents, I was really surprised more at finding these than the 10 wheat cents, S mints are usually pretty difficult to find here.

I have not actively searched rolls in quite a few years, with results like these today I may have to do this more often ok.gif

I am surprised that 1/3 were copper! Last time I did something like this it was more like 1/5.

Only watched part but I assume the copper was pulled toward the copper bin due to its magnetic properties?

May have to try and build something like that. Would save a LOT of time!

I used to go through many boxes... nothing like free coins.

Neither the copper or zincs are magnetic. I figured it sorted by weight.

I don't care to use a sorter other than my paws. Frankly, how else would I find those wheatbacked orphans looking for a cozy retirement?

Thought it was...oh well.

Weight could be possible.
