Have a look at this picture, I know it's hard to see but there is still retained metal all around the words above the eagles head. I wasn't sure if this is common for a 1904-O or just an oddity. Interesting though.

I have quite a-lot of mint state Morgans that have this very same thing. It might possibly be a common thing. I will post some pics when I get home from the office.

Most errors that are called true errors on Morgans are very hard to find. But the more common Vams are not errors but are die states and variations. There is a Morgan dollar forum that is very helpful and highly recomened for Morgan collectors.
