1969-S cents are notorious for mechanical doubling. This is a very nice example. I don't know if I have ever seen one of those that bad before.

Hi,
It is as "the Dutchman" alludes to, mechanical doubling. Very common on cents of that era. It is not the much sought after doubled die variety.
