Hi folks! I'm new to this site, and don't collect very much, but I've been sifting pennies lately (it's worth the bank teller's expression when I ask for $5 or $10...in what? ).
I received two, new cents in change today (from a freshly opened roll) with this extra squiggle of metal on the reverse, through the 'E' in 'CENT'. Is this a die crack, some other error, or nothing?

If that line is raised, then my estimate would be a die crack. I guess theoretically it could be a die gouge, but it looks to thin for that.
Wait for other replies however as errors are quite unfamiliar territory for me -though I do find them very interesting, especially the smaller ones.

Welcome to CP. I hope that you enjoy it here. It can certainly feed the collecting fever. I'm with Sir Sisu on his analysis.

Throwing in my two cents on the one cent. Looks like a die crack.
