Hi experts, is this clip from the mint or has it been alltered and how do you tell either way?
Thanks biggrin.gif

it's hard to tell on this one...The rim looks funny all the way around....is there a way to get a larger pic of of the big clip...as well as a shot of the clipped edge?

I wasn't able to get the edge yet, does this help?

I would have to say from those pictures that yes that is a clip.

Notice the ridge just inside the rim....see how it slowly fades out instead of just being sharply cut off. You can also see how the little dots that are on the edge show the same kind of stuff. If a coin was cut you would expect it to just end...not fade

nice clip looks like a double...maybe even a tripple

Thanks LD, I noticed what you pointed out but wasn't sure if that effect could be duplicated. I received the cent in change yesterday. biggrin.gif

It can be done...but it is difficult to get it right...and usually someone wouldn't waste their time on a cent...just to put into circ
