We had a few ideas for CP merchandise over time (t-shirts, caps, mugs, shot glasses, bracelets, tokens/coins/medals, temporary tattoos, framed top 10 posters lists

, etc.)
To get any one of these manufactured we'd probably need to take some prepaid orders beforehand. I would like to find out which one is the most appealing to you, and would you be willing to pay $x to $xx to pre-order.

Collectibles (coins, tokens, medals). Ever since I saw that flowing hair token, I wanted to see it with a CoinPeople logo.

I still have a couple of the RCC tokens. While nice they are expensive, involve a lot of upfront cash and time, and are probably more hassle than they are worth.

Medal/token sounds good to me, but I think it requires some experienced designer to make the piece attractive. Mugs and cups - hmm, shipping them to Europe may be a tad risky. ("Here, Sir, your CoinPeople Coffee Cup ... errm, 3D puzzle.")
A t-shirt would be neat too ...

A well designed token or medal. But, I'd go with almost any kind of token or medal. We are, afterall, collectors.
I have a thought.

Maybe we could use the Bunny's stock of commemoratives and create an elongated commemorative Coin People piece

that would be unique and collectible!

I guess it comes down to how the final product would look like and the final price before we can really make our minds up. Often, the real product would just look too different opposed to what it was supposed to be

Indeed, it would be nice if there are medals to commemorate the existance of coinpeople. Afterall, that is our hobby, right?

I voted for Drinkables (cups, shot glasses, private label beer) becasue I think that is the most doable. From what I know these (maybe not hte beer) can be done for less then $1 a piece...
...That said I would pay upwards of $25 for a 1 oz official CP Silver.

how about elongated cents? Those are neat.

Mar 31 2006, 09:35 AM
While a wearable would be neat, I would be a bit hesitant about "advertising" my coin collecting hobby in public (security). And I personally do not attend enough shows/etc to make it worthwhile. Perhaps the closest thing a could do is a lapel pin or a small patch.
The drinkable would be ok, except for the fact that I have tons of labeled beer glasses and Patriots coffee mugs already.
I prefer the token/medal thing myself. If the design would prove too difficult or unagreeable, perhaps we could hire Stujoe to deface some silver rounds for us. And then send off the coin to all who want to participate
and pay . It could work like a combination of the Short Snorter and V cent projects or something in that manner.

I'm for a marketing plan using all the options:
First we go for the collectables, if successful we catch the wave and move to the wearables and drinkables, then after the "Coinpeople" brand establishes its credibillity we make a strike with inspirational stuff complementing the continuous issue/production of collectable, wearable and drinkable material.
...by then, we should all receive Anton's Xmas postcards from the Bahamas!

I to like the coin or medal idea. I found this person on another forum and he makes coins and medals. Here is his website

i voted *other* but i really mean *nothing* ... i think there's too much stuff on the planet already. i already have too many ballcaps, t-shirts, coffee mugs (i've actually given most of these away--the only coffee mugs i have left are from former places of employment).

1.) Coin/token
2.) Piggy Bank
3.) Coffee Mug, as I am an addict
I like the coin/token idea, but I can forsee a hefty cost of creation. The others could be cheap dollar store items with thermal transfers, which seems alot more do-able. And keeps the cost down for poor college kids such as myself and Burks.
