Full Version: 1806-1807 trial rubles...
As there were NO rubles minted in 1806, thanks to the chaos of how the ruble should look like, some prototypes were made by Leberecht F. Honestly, they don't look bad and in fact, perhaps better than half of the Russian designs out there.
And of course, I had to be tempted to buy copies

I think the 1806 (the one with the eagle) is one of the original patterns while the 1807 is a novodel (restrike). I don't know if the restrike is made from new or original dies because I don't know the diagnostics for Alexander I pattern portrait rubles. If the 1807 restrike is from original dies, then it is presumably distinguished by the edge.
