This appears to be the current fair market price for such a set. As it is, I already own the Preussen set (Wilhelm II) in copper and Gilt (vergoldet) bronze, and the Bavarian set (Ludwig) in copper, bronze, and a very rare matched silver set. Goetz was limited by the government to the number of precious metal sets he could mint (5 sets each in gold and silver) but could do as he pleased with the number of non-precious metal sets. Still, they are limited in number too, just a little more available. He also made pieces in platinum but the number is less than 5 pieces for each denomination
This would make a great investment set for anyone willing to keep it in it's original box and out of slabs. The value will only go up over time with these.
It isn't a well know fact but Goetz actually hand engraved each die and hub for each piece as opposed to machine reduction and engraving.
