Full Version: Kennedy half dollar push-out

I have heard these refered to as push-outs, but don't know if that's the term used by most. This one is made on a 1965 Kennedy half dollar and has a three dimensional likeness pushed out of the metal. I've also seen them made out of Indian cents and Mercury dimes in the last few months.

How deep is it?

Nice. Only push outs I've ever seen were Barber dimes like this one.

The image comes out of the surface of the coin a little more than ¼".

That is very cool.

Aren't some of the more recent push outs done mechanically somehow?

I've never seen one of those before, thanks.

I have seen a few of those and usually you just see a regular flat half dollar with the soldering marks with the bust. What makes that one cool is you can see the warpage in the motto lettering "IN GOD WE TRUST."
