Given the roughness of them, I believe they have been altered. Real unstruck blanks have a much smoother appearance.

I have a copuple of blank cent planchets and they are very smooth surfaces with just bagmarks on them.

Unless yours were buried in the ground or something they don't look right to me.

They're pretty rough looking. Of course that can be a result of abuse or chemical reactions from dirt or cleaning.

The Blanks Are Smooth to the Touch They Looked To be Scrached Up And Cleaned

Anyway these i bought For 5 cents Each So Even If they Are fake No big Loss to me

I Thought That they Could be Fakes but Wanted Other Members Opinions First

You can hardly go wrong at 5 cents!

Actually I was thinking the Roughness could be light related and I've seen where lots of people will carry those in their pockets.

Hi,
Actually, they look to be real. The first looks like a type 1 blank. That's one that has not been through a mill that upsets the edge in preparation for the strike.

The second one looks like what is called a type 2 blank or planchet. It is termed a planchet after a blank receives the upset edge.

Have Fun,
Bill
