I'm kinda behind for posting pics... and do I ever wish I would kept up with it cuz it will take forever now shout.gif Please excuse some of the "not so good shots" as I was rushing (no patience bwink.gif ) I'm going to attempt to get the pics rolling more steady so I'm not back logged. Anyone else hit with the "lazy bug"? bleh.gif

Terrific coins. I like the reverse on the Austrian coins with all of the shields.
tabbs
Interesting how the number of those shields varies on Austrian collector coins. In the First Republic, until 1934, there were the shields of the nine states plus the federal "Bindenschild". During the authoritarian regime ('34-'38) the state shields were gone. In the Second Republic, they first used the nine state shields only. Then, in mid-1964, a tenth shield with the eagle was added. In 1996 the federal eagle shield was gone again, so since then we have had the nine state shields ...

But on quite a few coins (and on all silver coins nowadays) they use individual obverses and reverses. Nicer for most collectors. smile.gif

Thanks Christian I didn't realize that, I am struck by a lot of the designs on the Austrian Schillings and also find the shield reverses very attractive.

That is an impressive collection. The eagle design of the last coin you presented is quite to my liking. I like the blockiness. smile.gif Is that a word?
