Are there a couple of decent sales, preferably recent, that showcased a good sampling of medieval coinage? I'm trying to get a sense of price on some of these items without just buying whatever is out there.

French, English and German 500-1300 AD

Those I have, and for English they might be the best. But there's maybe 30 Merovingian pieces that I've found in CNG's past. Are those coins that scarce? No big collections that have ever come to auction?

It's not really my field, but the single best Merovingian collection I can think of is found at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge - Fitzwilliam

But for what you are seeking I would contact Tom Oberhofer - oberhot@eckerd.edu If anybody knows, he will.
