The jubilee coin of 2 Hryvnias denomination is dedicated to the principal Law of Ukraine, adopted on June 28,1996 at the 5-th Session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

On the coin obverse , in its upper part there is the Small State Emblem of Ukraine under which there is an inscription УКРАЇНА; between two fragments of a conventionalized vegetable- and flower-ornamental pattern there are the three line inscriptions: 2, ГРИВНІ, 2001 and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the coin reverse in the centre there is a depiction of an open book with the three line inscription: 5 РОКІВ КОНСТИТУЦІЇ within the frame of a vegetable composition of spikelets and sprays of a snowball tree; above it there is the structure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; beneath - 28 / ЧЕРВНЯ / 1996, the date of adoption of the Constitution.
