Augh! I saw the Nicklaus £5 today, and if it hadn't cost $35 that I didn't have, I'd have it right now--not to say that I won't have it eventually. I mean, not only am I a golf fan anyway, I live in Jack's home town! smile.gif

Nice article, but forget about some of the examples. Laetitia Casta is depicted on the French 1, 2 and 5 cent coins?? Apart from the fact that the effigy is supposed to be Marianne, not any living or dead individual, that statement proves itself wrong: "In 2000, model Laetitia Casta beat out four others for the honor of Marianne"

Hm, the first of these coins, with exactly that design, were minted in 1998. tongue.gif Seems that forbes.com rather picks an inaccurate example from France than a US piece like the Special Olympics coins featuring Eunice Shriver ...

Oh my, but Laetitia Casta is much much more attractive than the wicked Kennedy witch.

Agreed. I still wonder where that rumor (which can also be found elsewhere) originated. By the time she was chosen to be the "new Marianne", production of the coins had already started ...

And I don't quite agree about Elijah Wood appearing on a coin either. But that is a different story. smile.gif
