Really bad lighting. Fire the photographer! Check http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/index.cfm?action=Photo to find the mint's images (and images of the 1933 $20 gold!).

That coin in the SEGS holder rots.

Not sure if it's the hair or the dent he seems to have in his forehead. Must be an old Revolutionary War injury...

Well, to me it isn't just the hair that looks bad. The portrait reminds me of those old "Planet of the Apes" movie series from the '70s. TJ could be one of the ape characters. Our mint seems to have no access to engravers worthy of the job title.

Andy, I am speechless!!

What a talent you have! I like the Hathaway coin much, much better!

You should send that to the Mint. They might hire you!

I will wait before I pass judgement too, but on first impression I prefer last year's version.

Augustus St. Gaudens was high on drugs when he designed the $20 coin

Maybe someone should have found out what he was taking and given it to the current designers.

Oh, sweet merciful invisible supernatural father figure... if this is what they're doing to poor ol' Tommy J, my expectations for the centennial of the Lincoln cent are being dialed seriously downward. Why didn't they just leave the 'peekaboo' obverse in place?
