On the shelf they look like books. So if a smash and grab thief was to enter your home, they may just pass them by as just books.

Unless you get a thief who is a coin collector, then your really in trouble doh.gif

If Dansco is to make customized world coin albums at a reasonable price, I would so fall in love with them. grin.gif

I think you can special order mm sized holes in Dansco albums pages but I don't know any dealers off hand who do that (although I haven't really looked...).

Of course, I think you can only get a single mm per page. For example a whole page of 25mm not 1 - 40mm, 1 - 25mm, 1 - 10mm and 1 - 5mm for something like mint set or type set.

That is true. I have thought of that also as I see my albums sitting on a shelf.

I am a total Dansco convert after not wanting anything to do with albums for the first 5 or 6 years. That was before I found out I could build my own for most of my sets with untitled pages and blank albums. Now everything is getting converted. I have transfered my nickels and type set already and am going to transfer cents and dimes in the next week or so as soon as BK gts in more blank albums. Then quarters, halves, and dollars after that.

I use standard 20-pocket pages for my coins in 2x2's. Those go in plain white 4-ring binders, A4 size. Those end up on the same shelf where I keep all my photo albums, and several other binders with paper stuff.

There's 6 feet of binders/albums there...., most of 'm unmarked, and most containing photos and/or paper...

I love my Dansco's. Have the U.S. Type and both the Morgan albums. The rest of my coins are stored in 2x2's in a binder. The US coins will eventually be cut out and placed into Dansco's down the road. Sadly the foreign ones will remain in 2x2's for a LOOOOONG time.

Due to the rapidly disappearing space in our new safe, I will probably have to get the albums back on the shelf. The "book" quality is a nice feature. I just ordered 3 more Danscos the other day. I'm looking to get my whole US set in them eventually.

I love Dansco albums. I just wish they would make them for British Victorian Type Set, and post-Victorian pre-decimal Type Sets, majors and minors like Whitman used to do.

I remember reading somewhere that Dansco will create a custom album for you complete with lettering. As I recall they were quite pricey. I think the post was on rcc several years ago.
