Got this in yesterday's mail. I'm using it for both my Signature Set and my Registry Type Set. (These Sig/Reg set things can be addictive.)

The pic is only ok but it's the one from the ebay sale where I purchased the coin.

What are the perks of pursuing these anniversary sets?
What are the downsides? Do you feel like you become too focussed on the grade and not the coin?

For me, the perks are FUN. I like to put sets of things together and here's a set that I've defined and I get to watch it come together and share it with others as it moves along. Downsides -- it is addicting and some people very quickly get caught-up in the Registry set syndrome -- constantly going for the points. For example I have a US Type Set Registry Set - It's called my Fun Type Set. I'm not particularly impressed with the point total or level placement. Again, it's fun to do and I have some slabs that I can use, so I'm doing it.

Nice.

Just wondering how close are you to completing some of the sets? You have been moving pretty fast recently.

I'm not too close at all. I was planning to post scans of the albums like I did for my Lincolns and Jeffersons but that's pretty time consuming and I wanted to hold off until I get the latest run of sets all distributed. I have some sets still to come from Dads Stuff's sales.
I only purchased so many sets recently because some CP folks were offering them and IMHO that's a great way to get them. It helps both the buyer (me) and the seller. Otherwise I would have probably purchased one proof & one mint set per quarter.

Big mail day for Art.
- roll of Jefferson D dollars from Mark Stilson (along with some extras of elongated cents) WOW@@@@ Thank you very much.
- roll of Mercury dimes from JTryka -- great dimes (not sure that I need any of them in my Dansco. Except for the three 42/1 s that were in the roll (only joking on that)) Very nice roll -- Thanks Jeff
- 2007 Silver Proof Set -- Completely intact and pristine. All of the coins are fully frosted/mirrored without a single frosting blemish.
- Cheaper Than Dirt catalog -- I always enjoy reading it. They have a lot of cool stuff.

BTW I forgot to tell you where the elongated coins came from in case you weren't sure. The Battleship Texas and the San Jacinto
Monument. (I think I put both types in there? Along with the generic one from there. )

These are great elongates by the way. Crystal clear. Many of the coins that I have are barely readable because the dies get old and worn and aren't replaced very often. It seems to me that there are fewer and fewer machines around these days. Must not be a high profit item.

You know, there are elongated cent machines at every rest stop along the Indiana toll road (of course it wouldn't be the first time we were late in changing to what the rest of the world was doing, like daylight savings time...)
