The last one, the Ruble, the reverse text puzzles me:

"pobeda nad fashistskoy germaniey"

"20 LET"

What does that mean?
Burks
Good stuff. I like the 1 Franc.

20th anniversary of the Victory over Fascist Germany.

What's the story on the Franc? I got one in circulation in France in 1995 and I saved it, but I could never figure out if it was a commem or a design change (there were several 2-franc commems circulating at the time). In any case I really liked the design so I saved it (a solid 20-cent investment!).

It's a commemorative coin (well, circulating commem) issued 200 years after the foundation of the first French Republic.

For those who haven't seen these coins in hand: they look a lot better than on my photographs.

One thing that surprised me: the size of that large cent. They're actually a lot larger than I expected, I kinda expected the same size as a canadian large cent....
Scottishmoney
The earliest large cents were a bit larger yet, my 1794 is about 3 grammes heavier than the 1797.
Trantor_3
Received 300 Rubles today, split in 6 coins of eahc 50 ruble, all bimets depicting an aminam from some red book. Haven't got pics yet, those will follow later.

I haven't got a proper lighting setup yet, so I have to rely on daylight, preferably sunny.... And since it's pretty bad weather the last few days, storm and rain and it's getting dark rather early already, I haven't been able to make some pics yet.

Don't worry, they'll come
