I'm not an expert on colonial coins, but many were restruck at various points in time including the Rhode Island piece. I have a 1776 New Hampshire William Moulton token restrike (whether the original is real or fantasy, mine is a restrike Maury Gould gave me years ago) that shares characteristics of yours around the rim.
The original Rhode Island pieces were struck in brass, 2 in pewter. Those in the Garret collection show the beaded border at the rim of the coin, well centered. Your piece shows the full beaded border and a raised rim outside of that. It appears the planchet is slightly too large and you most likely have a restrike.
It doesn't hurt to have someone familiar with colonial pieces to look at your actual medal, but I wouldn't set my expectations too high.
