So who is that on the obverse?
Stujoe
The last Aztec leader, Cuauhtemoc, who was executed by Cortes during the conquest of Mexico.

I happen to have a 1966 1 peso, large, silver (0.1 only sad.gif ) with the snake consuming eagle. And no chiseling required grin.gif

I have that whole 1966 set myself. grin.gif

It is, the fact they put him on a coin makes me wonder how Mexicans view the Spanish and Aztect past in the present day.

Now I know why my brother had a parrot named Cuauhtemoc.

Why did you buy them this way versus the premade Dansco for cents and dimes? Just curious as I'm getting ready to order Danscos for nickels and cents.

Stujoe
I collect from 1900-present and only business strikes and no proofs. So a standard album, of course, wouldn't do it.

Now, I could have bought the a generic cents album, for instance, but it only has 144 ports which is not enough by almost a half for my needs. I needed 248 ports now and some room for expansion.

Now, I was also not sure what size the actual generic cents album size was and whether it would be able to hold the extra pages I needed if I just bought 4 more pages to add to it. So I took the safe route and bought the largest empty album Dansco offers and 8 pages (holding 288 coins) in order to leave room for expansion.

It would be cheaper to just get the cents album and add 4 more pages if possible (by like 8 bucks, I think) but I didn't want to take the chance on the cheaper solution not working since I can't get any of it locally and was dealing only thorugh the mail.

What are you adding to cents from 1900 to present that brings the slot requirement to 248? You've got the Indians from 1900 to 1909 including 08-S and 09-S. Are you heavily into Lincoln varieties?

Maybe I have to go the same route. I don't want my Indians in with my Lincolns but that's only 11 slots.

Nope. That is strict date and mint mark, 1900 to present. That is no varieties at all, not even the VDBs. Also, a 1909 IHC is the same as a 1909 Lincoln for this set as they are both 1909, same with the 1909-S IHC and Lincoln. They are both 1909-S's.

Unless my spread sheet is miscalculating, it is 248 for this set from 1900 to 2006. I haven't counted them individually but it seems about right. That is 10 IHC's and the rest Lincolns. The Lincoln has been around almost 100 years and there were 2 to 3 date/mint mark combinations almost each and every year (except for '22, 65, 66, 67?). So, off the top of my head, 248 seems about right.

All my denomination sets are like that. Like with nickels - it starts with V nicks (1900), goes all the way through the Buffs and then the regular Jeffs, then the westward journeys, and next the new 2006 (Thanks to the Bunny! bgreen.gif). I like it but that is the way I defined my set from the get go and the way I wanted it to be as I focus only on the date range. However, I can absolutely understand those that want the separate sets.

Makes sense. Where do you find the count of pages/slots in the Dansco's. I've looked all over the place and haven't found them anywhere.
Art
Nice chart. You're really doing well on the sets. It sounds like a fun way to assemble them.

I am having fun with it. It has been my main collection since I started collecting seriously in '99. I love adding to it.

Just random trivia...

The 1900 was not picked because it was a round number. It was picked because it was my Grandfather's birth year and he is the one who started me down the collecting path when I was a wee young 'un some 30 plus (plus, plus wink.gif ) years ago. That currently useless trivia may be useful to an author many years in the future when my heirs auction off The Stujoe Collection. laugh.gif
Dan769
Stu what nickels do you need? I had some of Art's needs , maybe I can help you.
Stujoe
Actually, I need just one now that Tiff is sending me the 2006 Jeffs. Yaaay!

The other missing one is a 1912-S Lib Nick that I kick myself for not buying a year or two ago! laugh.gif I have tried to get one a couple of times since but it is currently on hold again. I just wish the prices on them would keep holding. But they aren't. laugh.gif.

Thanks for the offer, though!
Tiffibunny
Those will go out as soon as my stamp shipment comes in. Actually and I buy envelopes I'm out of those too. blol.gif

No hurry and I know the feeling. I went to pack up all the PCI prizes and the CP dollar last Saturday to take to the post office and only then realized I didn't have enough envelopes and small boxes to put the stuff in! doh.gif By the time I got everything, I had about 5 minutes left to pack them all and get to the PO. Didn't happen.

They will get out this Saturday.

I don't want to waste a kitchen pass on the PO! rofl1.gif

It is hard for me to get to the PO on any other day. After work, I usually get home from the gym between a quarter to and 5. Not enough time to get to the PO even though it is relatively close.

Brand Spankin' New Nickels from Tiff! Thank you, Tiff! Going straight into the album. wink.gif
