Orders have been taken that meet the mintage limits for the Benjamin Franklin Commemorative Coins (except for the 50,000 Founding Father proof coins being held for the 2006 United States Mint American Legacy Collection™). We are continuing to take orders. If you choose to place an order and product becomes available, you will be considered "next in line," and your order will be processed on a first-in, first-out basis, following our standard practices. The United States Mint CANNOT provide specific information on the ranking of customer orders either online or by telephone. If paying by credit card, please ensure the expiration date is not before June 2006. If we are not able to fulfill your order, you will be notified that your order was canceled. If you paid by check, you will receive a refund. The United States Mint reserves the right to accept or reject product orders in any combination or options it determines to be in its best interest.
http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wcs/store...catalogId=10001I thought about getting a set after tax refund time but I guess I won't after all!

Glad dad ordered one of each. I really didn't expect this one to sell out. Not one bit.

Wow! Tiff can I buy your extra unc? I just wanted to order a proof and unc of the continential dollar coin. I never saw this one coming! Must be a lot of big dealers buying them up, than you shop at home!

well, I just placed an order, maybe I'll get lucky.

I did not see this one coming either.

I was hoping to order them with some other items to save some on postage and handling. I collect the Unc versions and still put an order for each, but I doubt that my "Backorder" will ever get filled.

The TV shysters not only buy the maximums allowed, they have dealers all over the country ordered to buy them and sell them to the TV folks (of course at a profit). Then they slab them and sell them for hundreds each. Nice work if you can get it.

It more of a hype I think. Even if the prices go up they will eventually come down. I don't think it'll retain its value.

After the very disappointing French commem, I ordered two of each type and proof the day they went on sale. Like most of you, I too am surprised at how fast they went out, as Numismatic News most recent edition is reporting sales at the halfway mark. Guess they picked up after the pub. deadline.
I however disagree with smk, I think this one (and the U.S. Marine commem) will steadily gain in value over the years. Just MHO though.

Yep, I think it's pure hype. They're probably being distributed to the nationals who will try to wring a drop of profit out of them once the demand dries up.

On a lark, I checked my order today, and apparently they all shipped today, a proof and unc of the continental dollar and an unc scientist. I think I got lucky since I placed my order the day they announced the sellout on the website.

Flipping thru channels last nite. Saw coin network selling icg first day issue ms70 for 249$ (Correct me if wrong, up or down price.) . I think the most insulting thing was they kept repeating silver has risen so much. They seemed like everyone needed to buy them because of silver content.

You are right, and Shop at Home was selling theirs (not first day issue) NGC MS and PF-70's for $299 and they are saying all the time how the price of silver and gold is skyrocketing and they are still keeping their prices so low. Those darn shysters!
