http://cgi.ebay.com/1943-U-S-A-Penny_W0QQi...1QQcmdZViewItemSeems to be a plain old Lincoln to me. Are they hoping it turns out to be a copper penny hiding under there or what?

If that is going for $50, imagine what my choice BU gold toned one would sell for.....

Let me explain it mathematically:
GREED + STUPIDITY = BIDDING $50 ON AUCTION 8374703292

Gees I think I might want to pull the '43 Lincolns off of the refrigerator magnets and put them on fleaBay. I also have some magnetic French coins lingering on the reefer, I better sell them too

Praying for copper and some negative feedback will be flowing. The seller never said anything other than it was a 1943 and showed the picture.

True ... and the pic looks like it could be copper. I'd bet on some serious photoshopping by a seller "playing dumb" ... someone's gonna get burned.

I almost bought a Seated Half off the seller and then seen this auction.

Might be a plating that the copper rubbed off. But, it is probably just gunk.

The seller has 100% Pos. feedback and is selling several more '43s with the same info.
http://cgi.ebay.com/1943-U-S-A-Penny_W0QQi...1QQcmdZViewItemI don't think that this was an attempt to be deceptive.

I'd buy some of his coins but I'm afraid he'll nail me with a $5 shipping fee. Not worth it.

Who knows - it could be a common copper plated coin. Copper plating is not too terribly difficult either...

Looks like a rather gunkie steel penny to me. I would never look at that coin and think it was copper.
Looks like a typical black/white zinc piece to me. Maybe two older folk just really wanted to have a "lead-head" from their youth? I've seen auctions where a common piece sold for multiples of regular value, while tens of other auctions for the same thing have no bids at $2 or less.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Morgan-Dollar-1921_W0Q...1QQcmdZViewItemAnother great item. "Prook look" eh? A collector of 20 years selling a four to five figure coin for $75? Riiiiiiiight and I found an 1804 silver dollar in my couch.

I sent him several messages asking questions about the wheat penny and he never would answer.
