picked this up at a local flea market for a dollar. Reminded me of Stu because I think he has one and posted it once, and since then I've been determined to get one.
Anybody have a link for more info on these?

Awesome pick up! Congrats!

Here is some info on these cool little items from the dawn of the nuke age...

Now you need a matching Merc one. Keep your eye out for it. wink.gif

I've seen those before. Didn't know people collected them though. Wouldn't mind having an irradiated dime though.

Cool find.

I don't know if too many people collect them - maybe encased collectors - but a number of people buy an example or two.

That's why some people have bought them. wink.gif

I picked up one a number of years ago just because I thoght it was cool. Sold it and then bought both a Roosie and a Merc.

They aren't expensive but don't expect to easily find them laying around for a buck. laugh.gif
Art
Nice find.

Excellent link Stu, thanks. I'm tempted to open the case to see if this mintmarked.

And your right, now I want a Merc version.

The only thing close to radioactive coins / medals that I have would be this:

Minted from scrapped metal of R-12 (SS-4) Soviet medium range missiles under the Soviet-American INF Treaty.

(I honestly don't want to know how much radiation this medal would give out shok.gif )
