Terrific. Thanks for the update.

labmom
have they arrived yet?
Art
I'll PM Rodney and ask.
Art
PM from Rodney. The Snorters haven't shown up yet.

Labmom checked the USPS site and all they show is the package being received for shipment. Nothing after that. I don't think that that's a good sign. shok.gif

Where am I on the list now?
Art
You are absolute last. The order list is on page 5 of this thread. The notes should be on their way back to me. From here they go to Canada and then to Europe. Back to me and then to you and back to me for distribution.

Art,

USPS has'em now. Sent from good ole' Nac around 2:30 PM. Of course, 'Insured' for the requested amount.

If you collect stamps, the new Priority stamp is a beaut. It has a hologram on it.

Terrific. I'll be looking forward to their arrival.

ccg - what's the best way to ship them to you? Registered? Priority Express?

Unfortunately, the hologram does not show up. On the $4.05 Priority Mail stamp, the hologram is of a large "X" in the lower left corner of the stamp.

The image is of an X-15 being the US' first 'spaceship' flown in the late 1950's and early 1960's.

To anybody else, yes, I know this may seem a bit OT; however, I first collected stamps 'way back in 1956 and have an affection for them still. I will not use a postage meter if I can avoid it. In one sense, paper money collecting is like stamp collecting except that the image size is so much bigger. HA! HA!

Thanks Jay.

When I was a young kid, I collected stamps too, and had quite a bit older ones, due to some family members who donated (parts of ) their collections.
In the 1980's I kinda lost insterest in them, becasue theDutch postal service started issuing commem stamps for almost everything, it became too hard (and expensive for a student) to keep up.
In the end I focused on coins , but due to the countless trades with members here on CP, who sent the coins in envelopes with stamps, my interest in stamps woke up again.

that is pretty cool ... i'm glad someone pointed it out--i've been using online postage lately (since 9/11 it makes more sense--stamped mail over 12oz has to be handed to a postal counter) and i would have never seen it.

Art
Sorry for the delay. The package of Snorters was mailed International Priority Mail yesterday to Germany for Banevichi. Shouldn't take too long to arrive.
Burks
Any updates? I completely forgot about this until I received a WheresGeorge note yesterday (for some reason it reminded me of the Snorters).
Art
The Short Snorters are being searched for at the present time. Update to come early next week.
Rotten Rodney
so where are they now?
Art
Well the Short Snorters were sent to Germany. Unfortunately the person who requested they be sent to a particular address moved suddenly while they were in transit. The US Post Office has no record of them other than that they were sent from Kennedy on a certain date and time. The receiver has had a friend attempt to retrieve them from the delivery address but was told they are not there. All we can do now is hope that the German Post Office will return them.

I can not think of any course of action to take at this point, other than to wait. Any ideas?
Trantor_3
Oh, I really hope they will show up, we were so close to the end of it.

The fiver in there was one of three printed, I have one in my collection, there is another in Kuwait with another CP'er, and the disappeared one. mad.gif
Art
Like the rest of you, I find this situation very upsetting. I don't want to give up hope on this and ask that each of you keep a good thought about it as well. Perhaps they'll find their way home.
Rotten Rodney
I bet A Terrorist Organization has something to do with this. . .

Did the package have a tracking number?

If so, maybe one of our German members can find out at Deutsche Post about the whereabouts of the package.

The Dutch postal service requires that the sender takes action in case of a problem.

There once was a package for me lost in the mail, due to a wrong house number on the envelope. Postal service knew where it was (all "lost" mail goes to one central point here in NL), I knew where it was (cause the tracking service told me that), but they refused to send it to me. The sender had to request that the parcel be sent back to her, and then she could send it to me again. She could not request to send it directly to me, only back to her. Stupid rules... mad.gif

Maybe Deutsche Post has similar rules.

Anyway, before getting into that, we better first find out where it is now.

Art
US Post Office was no help. Said the tracking number was valid only in the US and that they had tracked it as far as they could. Does anyone know how to contact the German Postal Service -- I guess I can find that on the internet somewhere.

http://www.deutschepost.de/

This site is in German, obviously.

You can switch it to english, if you know where to do that....

At the right hand side there's a box with a looking glass and the following words:

CODE

Kontakt     Übersicht
            Hilfe

         Suchen

Sprache: DEU ENG

Click "ENG" and it will switch the Sprache (language) into Englisch (English)

I haven't examined the site any further
whohah
Any news on the snorters??
Art
No news. I've emailed the German Postal folks and asked about delivery and return. No answer yet.
