I was a small small little kid and I was in Japan for holidays.
On this very day, my parent's friend brought me around some areas to tour my brothers and I around. What was interesting was that there happened to be a pond, and there is a saying that if one was to wash their money in the pond, they would get rich.
For some bizarre reasons, I did not have any changes with me so I actually borrowed ONE YEN off from my brother. I was laughing while washing that one yen, thinking that can't be possible.
Later that evening, we went to a restuarant and planned to have dinner. But little did I expect it to be a restuarant where people can freely smoke. The tables were full, and we had to sit with some other smokers.
Of course, I hate the smell of smoke, (hey I *was* small at that time), and gave some sort of disapproval sign. It seemed that the men right beside was actually nice enough to put off the smoke, get out from the table, apologized and actually left 1000yen on the table and told me to use it.
I was of course shocked over it - obviously the rest of the family members were yelling !@##$$#@%#&^%* over me for being "impolite".
Later when I thought about this event, I laughed over how much that 1 yen that I washed in the pond helped to increase by 1000 fold. Not a bad idea indeed  Ironically enough, I kept both the note and the coin as a memorial event. Probably going to have that buried with me...
