My latest acquisition.

This particular jeton is most unusual in that it is an error strike, using as it does reverse dies from two completely different series.

One side bears the reverse of jetons produced for the Guild of Master Diers (Teinturiers). The second bears the reverse of the jeton produced for the French Royal Treasury in 1749.

Both series normally have a bust of the reigning monarch for the obverse. The jetons of the Teinturiers are never dated....with this particular exception. Feuardent catalogues this one as 5367 but provides no indication as to how many were produced before the error was discovered. Not too many I suspect / hope. :-)

I've posted a typical `teinturier' jeton as well for comparison
