Clipped Planchet – Coins struck on incomplete planchets. Clips are caused when the strip of metal being fed into the blanking press is for some reason sent back over the already punched area. This leaves an incomplete planchet with a crescent shaped area missing. If a planchet is stamped from the beginning or end of the strip they can also hit the end and have a strait or end clip.
