This is a new auction site that works in many ways silimar to Ebay but the best of all, it's free!

user posted image

If there is anything you would want to see, may be a new category or something else, please let me know, I will be more than happy to help.

It is still in its infancy and for now it’s completely free.

If in the future we need to move to better more expensive servers and we need to charge something to cover costs, then we will only charge for sale fees, if you don’t sell, you don’t pay anything.

For now I am waiting for you guys to use it for some auctions, once there are a number of auctions going I will be looking to do some advertising in google and the like to attract buyers.

If you find any bugs or anything, please let me know so we fix them ASAP.

Thank you!

Well, I just provide the site, it is up to the users to put things for sale. smile.gif

It was just born this weekend, so there is a need for users to register and start using it, eventually I hope that there will be some deals, it just needs users to start using it.

As I said, it is free to use, no listing fees, no sale fees, so nothing to loose. bunny.gif

I like the site Unk, but is there a way to convert things people list to english???
Scottishmoney
When I am viewing I am seeing lots of broken links for some reason.

I guess it depends on the poster... if they post in Spanish you could ask me, and I could translate it for you...

It's the same as ebay, if someone posts the text in Spanish there is nothing you can do... in this case just contact me and I will translate anything you need.

If the poster posts in english, then it will be in english. There is a need for users so go ahead and post your auctions, when there are users posting auctions eventually buyers will come, and as there are no fees, all the better. biggrin.gif

I will be doing some google advertising once there is a bit more auctions life, so the sooner there are more auctions the sooner I get some money into google to get it going. smile.gif

Could you please send me a mail as soon as you see any?

admin@auctionmonster.net

There are a few things that are been working on, like the support forums, they will be fixed some time today, and then the translation is going to be installed soon.

Any other link that is "broken" please let me know, I need lots of "road testing"! smile.gif

I have sent translations to the one posting most coins in Spanish, so I think they are now in English too. hi.gif

Hey Unk, when you come on, can you kindly tell me how a seller leaves feedback and is there a way to create an invoice or contact the buyer after the auction ends? I can't seem to find either thing.

Sorry for the delay, I hadn't seen this post.

I think you have found it already, but the answer is here:

I wanted to let you know that we have gone over the 100 active auctions.

They are all real auctions and I think it is a big step and achievement.

Let's hope soon I can tell you we went over the 200 active auctions! bunny.gif

Thanks to all that participate!

It's a nice site. I hope that it continues to build and that you get the traffic needed to keep it alive and vital. Good work.

Stujoe
Congrats Unk!

Do you know if the seller nonamateur is someone from here?
Tiffibunny
He is. It's one of the new fellows. pauldean I think.
Stujoe
Thanks Tiff. If he keeps selling stuff like those Barbers and such, I may become an AuctionMonster. laugh.gif

I've just signed up and made my first bid, so best of luck with your enterprise. We need an alternative to (you know who).

One thing though (I know...you can't please everybody!)......I find it annoying when browsing auctions when I don't know what the starting price of the auction is (before having to go into the individual auctions that is).

You want people to look at the auctions, that is understood, but I don't really want to look at an auction unless the start is at least at my interest / budget level. No point wasting time going in to find that the start price is either outwith budget parameters or perhaps (dare i say it...) optimistic. :-)

Thank you Ian and welcome.

I am trying to understand what view you are using, as when I go to the home page I do see the starting bid of all items or the highest bid if they have any...
Scottishmoney
I will add in that I can now see AM again, but like Ian, I do not see the start bids and I use either IE or MZ.

I think this is what he means

user posted image

For example the Walker Auction has no bids but it is a $10 start on the auction. It would be nice to know it was a $10 start on the main page without having to click on the auction to see that...

Basically adding a Start Price column or making the Last Bid column show the Start Price when their are no bids...or something like that...
Unknown
Thank you, that is what I needed to know.

I see your point, I will look into that.

And very happy I am to have you back!

If anyone doesn't have access to AuctionMonster let me know. There is a security software that automatically bans IPs if they try to access an account several times unsuccessfully.

Some times it will happen when someone honestly tries to access his account and enters the password incorrectly several times, but is easy to get that IP address off the ban list.

Working on it, I will let you know when something is done about it.

Curiously I tried from multiple IP's, I could not even load the site. Perhaps a better solution is a 5 login attempt limit, then block only login attempts.

But I wasn't trying to login this week, just view the site.
Unknown
It may be that the software has been programmed a bit "over-celous", but better that way than having no security, don't you think? bunny.gif

At least for next time we know how to fix it easily, an email or a message in the auctionmonster forums, if you are able to access them, should short it out.

OK, Ian, and the rest, you can have a look now here.

I think it is what you asked for. bunny.gif

I checked with the hosting company and they said:
"Please be informed that the domain auctionmonster.net is well accessible from our end. Please check the attached image. The issue you have faced might be caused by some temporary problems.
Please check from your end again, if the problem persists please get back to us."

I have tried to access it myself and I can get in just fine, can you check again please?

That is great!

Anything else I can do to improve, just let me know! bunny.gif
MisterMcDoo
Just an idea, Juan... as this is a site that has to compete with the likes of Ebay and Yahoo auctions, it might be good to ask around (on forums?) for something big that would "improve" Ebay or such auction sites, and then administer it to your program... and use it for an advertising tool.

Now that I said that here's my idea grin.gif

When fees come into the picture, how about offering fees similar to that of the Napster music software... you pay so and so a month or year and can sell as many things as you want, instead of paying seperately for every item. Providing the seller puts a certain number of items on A.M., it would potentially save him/her a lot of money, but in the meantime it would contribute to the amount of items on A.M. and would be quite a draw for the seller to return and continue selling...

(maybe?)
MisterMcDoo
In the meantime no fees at all is good too!!! grin.gif
Unknown
It sounds good, thank you for the suggestions.
I don't see me competing with the likes of Yahoo and Ebay, they are too big. I don't know what the future is for AuctionMonster, but I hope we can live alongside them and still have a decent amount of users, but what you sugested is worth a try.

About the fees, that will be much latter, when the traffic is so much that I need to upgrade the servers to expensive ones.

In any case if I offer that, I would have to offer the single sale fee too, as not everyone will have so many auctions that they prefer to pay monthly or yearly. Even now I could set that up using the Store feature; anyone opening a Store can use their own logo in it and put up as many items for sale as they want and I could just charge a fee for the store once they are needed. Talking about store, why don't you try to open one for your notes bussiness? I didn't have anyone testing that feature to see if there is anything that needs improvement or looking at.

As well is the matter of not having certainty of you are going to sell or not. Whenever fees are introduced, they will only be paid if you sell an item, no sell, no fee, I think it is not fair to expect people to pay if they didn't sell an item, so while people don't abuse the system that is what the plan is.
And fees will only be introduced when there is much more traffic than now, as for now the site is not too slow for anyone to give up on the site.

When the traffic becomes so that the site is too slow and I get users complaining about it, then I will know is time to move. So I depend on you to let me know!

Does AuctionMonster up the remaining time when a bid is placed within so many minutes of close of the auction?

I just entered a bid on an auction that had 2 minutes left. It took the bid and changed the time to 4 minutes left. Why?

Wonder how long it will be before stale grilled cheese sandwiches with images of the Virgin Mary start selling there? Then Auctionmonster will have gone big time, then we will let the media know and presto, Auctionmonster grows exponentially.

Maybe I should cook up some cheese sandwiches today grin.gif
