I think I broke the mailwoman's back today. bleh.gif bleh.gif bleh.gif

A package from Turkey, included 22 new banknotes. A variety from former Soviet states, and a few from Yugoslavia

Another package of notes (10), mostly Yugoslavia, a few others.

A package of Polish coins from Izzy bhyper.gif bhyper.gif (money went out this morning!)

A trio of Lithuania 1 litas, including the new Palace of the Dukes.

The new Canadian 25c for Vets.

I am afraid that the banknote bug has bitten me, as I am already browsing eBay looking for some more. Fortunately for me, I have so few that there are still plenty of "bargain" notes that I need. Only going to collect the notes to go with my main collections - Yugoslavia (and, of course: Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia & Slovenia), and former Soviet states.

Well, it wasn't the mailman, but I picked up this coin at the local show today. There was really nothing there I wanted, but I saw this one in a big book of foreign coins at one dealer's table and I couldn't resist.
Stujoe
Cool coin! S = San Francisco?

Yes, this one is not listed in the Philippine section of the redbook, but I believe it was minted in San Francisco. It's a very pretty coin and not very expensive.

Do the obverses all look like they were struck as weak as that? I have one too, thus my curiosity.

After months of waiting I finally got my Marine Corps unc. silver dollar yesterday! It's a very pretty coin, and pretty nice quality (though they had long enough to make a nice one!). I also went to my coin club meeting last night and won an auction lot of 5 WLH! Overall a pretty good day! banana.gif

Well, after buying that MacArthur 50-centavo at the coin show last Saturday I got the bug and bought a 2-coin set off eBay which arrived yesterday. It came with what might be the original packaging, but I am not sure. It's basically a paper folder with two celophane windows for the coins that tell a little about them, like the mintage (100K for the 1-poso, 200K for the 50-centavo). The back of the folder has a PO Box address in Manila. Anyhow, the coins are fabulous and the packaging was just an extra bonus!

Yesterday I got a 2006 Redbook from Art along with 100 intis, a 2005 leather bound Redbook from NGC and a token from the WCC/PNNA show in Portland. There is a gentleman that exhibits at most of the northwest coin shows that hand strikes tokens for the shows, and I e-mailed him and asked for one since I can no longer attend those shows being 2400 miles away. I received the token yesterday and his other tokens were mostly dime sized with historically based designs (one year it was a pine tree shilling, etc.) and this year the coin was tiny! He wrote a description, and it was based on an ancient design of an athena head from the 3rd century BC. In the photo I put it next to a Dutch 10-cent so you can see how tiny it is! Very neat!
