There are a few Morgans in there too!

Very scarce penny from King John of Scotland(1292-1296) whose reign time period was very disingeniously portrayed in Braveheart though he was never mentioned in the movie. When William Wallace fought and one the first major battle at Falkirk, he was still loyal to King John. This penny was minted in the first couple of years of the reign and is known as the "Rough Surface" issue because of the crude design. It was minted at St. Andrews, and has CIVITAS SANDRE on the reverse. The coin is S-5067.

I got these today:

thedeadpoint
Whoa. What's the story with those?
jtryka
they are tokens from 2002 struck in silver representing Felix Schlag's original winning design for the Jefferson nickel of 1938. They are struck in silver I believe, limited to 1938 pieces.

Thanks guys. I especially like the bisecting die cracks on the obverse even if it would probably be worth about 3 times as much without them.

Give me ANY coin riddled with die cracks and I will be happy. I love seeing die deterioration, it shows more history than a crisply struck coin in my opinion.

Waiting for tonnes of junk, but nothing at the PO.

Isn't it something how they can religiously drop off every piece of junk mail but not the important stuff? Last week I did not get a registered slip for a package I tracked into the United States, AGAIN, my PO keeps doing this, so I questioned the clerk, she went back, and sure enough there it was. They never used to believe me, now when they see me they automatically bolt for the registered cage.

I bought one of the 2002 San Marino sets, I had been on their mailing list for years so had priority for ordering, I bought it for $12.50 and sold for $212.50, but I regretted it afterwards.

Two Bank of Ireland £5's, one 1937 Canadian $1 in CU, and one aUnc 100 Piastres(1954) from French Indochina:

Many lovely young ladies appeared on the colonial French notes issued for her far flung possessions around the world, unfortunately early on, most of them were French. Later on, with greater agitation by nationalists in her colonies, France began to issue paper money that showed the people from her diverse possessions instead of French women. This lovely note was issued in 1954, was issued in Cambodia, the reverse of the note has an image of Angkor Wat, but similar notes with different reverses were issued in Laos and in Viet-Nam. The three ladies are emblematic of the ethnic diversity of French Indochina, in this case represented by a Cambodian, Laotian, and Vietnamese women. This note is P-97. This series of notes surely must be the inspiration for a similar note currently issued in Laos with three young Laotian girls seen here:

I got...squat. But I did pick up a junk draped bust cent for $3. It's not dated, just the head is outlined and you can only see the bottom of the wreath. It goes into the pocket with my junk draped bust half cent hehe.

That narsty golden addiction came my way yet again today. evilbanana.gif
thedeadpoint
Can we see the addiction so we don't have to do an intervention?

The Mailman was good to me last week! First a nice 1823 bustie that I bought on eBay and was able to use a $10 off coupon:

Next was a 1913-D Saint that was an upgrade and I was able to use a $100 off eBay coupon on this one:

I am all out of eBay coupons now, so my buying may take a breather for a while!
Vfox
Jeesh, that's a nice Saint Jeff. I still don't own even one! Maybe when I get a real job and graduate from school eh? smile.gif
jtryka
"Give it time Kevin, give it time..."

I am sure you'll eventually get one, but given your much more diverse interests than me, it might take you a bit longer! By the way, I didn't get my first one until I was 29!

Well, the set is going slowly but surely, this is the first hole I've filled (not an upgrade) in more than a year! And this will probably be the last hole for a while since the rest are $5K+ holes! You can click on the link in my sig line to see the set as it stands currently, but I haven't had a chance to add photos or description for this one, probably this weekend though.
