The mailman was good to me this weekend! First I received a nice 1952-D quarter on Friday that I bought from a guy on the NGC forums:

Then yesterday I got my prize from Blackhawk for the Wright Brothers contest:

Finally, this one didn't come in the US mail, but ironically came in the interoffice mail at work! It's a medal commemorating the first trading of the NYSE after their merger with Archipelago. It's about the size of a silver dollar, not sure of the composition, but I thought it was neat anyway.

In my opinion the portrait of the Pope is not very well done. But I suppose that is what Benedict approved ...

I received my first Barber dime (in a decent grade) to start my new series.

Just arrived today from a Heritage Auction.

1914 AU 58. Handsome coin.

I can't figure out how to upload the pics nicely, so here is the link for you Heritage members out there: http://coins.heritageauctions.com/common/v...dNo=6010&zoom=1

Very nice coin and a decent price, I believe. bthumbsup.gif

Got two commems yesterday - one from Belgium, one from Liechtenstein. The Belgian coin is the one that I mentioned in this discussion http://www.coinpeople.com/BE-10-Bois-du-Cazier-t10836.html ... That one I like; interesting occasion for a commem, and the design is OK too.

The other one http://www.coinpeople.com/Liechtenstein-to...oins-t7524.html well, I don't really want to say I regret the purchase, but that is because this is my very first LI coin. The design - örks. biggrin.gif

No pics but got a box (20 lbs or so) of coins from Mexico. It will probably take until the end of the year to sort through it.

Received it over the weekend but just saw it for the first time:

1916 MS-62 Barber dime

won it sight-unseen on a heritage auction. was worried because they usually have fantastic pictures and sometimes they don't list in text if the coin is cleaned/damaged. ohmy.gif

Luckily, she is beautiful, retains most luster, and not damaged/cleaned! grin.gif

Very nice Jeff, is that gold or base metal? (because it's you I'll assume gold lol)

This is the new San Francisco Old Mint commemorative, so this is a legitimate half eagle (0.24187 oz. pure gold), same composition as from 1840-1929. The reverse is taken from the Longacre design in use when the earthquake struck in 1906. The silver dollar commem has the reverse of the Morgan dollar (last used in 1904). I am still waiting for the proof half eagle and the two silver dollars (scheduled on 12/15).

Nice Granite Lady. bthumbsup.gif
I heard some of the capsules from the mint were loose and have come apart in shipping or rattling.

Nice half eagle. Would be more interesting if the finish was also old-school!

Just remember those old school finishes were meant to circulate, but not this one! I hope the proof one looks nice too. As for the capsules, this one was the same, the top was loose when it arrived, but the coin was still in place, the only harm was the mess of little blue fibers from the velvet case getting in the capsule which detracted from the look of the coin (in fact I thought it was all scratched up until I cleaned out the fibers!). Now I can't wait to see what they did with Morgan's dollar reverse.

A Grand Canyon medal courtesy of Tiffany (Thanks!). I really want to escape to there now.

Two very nice 2001 halves. Besides proofs, easily the nicest Kennedies in my collection. Thanks, Mark!

Both arrived today.

Thanks again guys!

Second interesting item -- an extremely touching gift from Alfonso. He sent me the first roman coin that he had found. What a wonderfu and moving gift. It will hold a treasured place in my collection forever.

Got back from a trip today, and had some neat stuff in my mail. From our Anton, the 10 rubles prize (see http://www.coinpeople.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=286247) plus a coin from Thailand which (I think) is a 5 baht piece issued in 1996 for the 50th anniversary of king Bhumibol's coronation, all wrapped in a Canadian Currency Museum folder. bthumbsup.gif

Also, some euro coins from Austria (€5 Mozart, EU Presidency) and the Vatican (€2 Swiss Guard, €5 Peace Day, €10 Bernini's Piazza San Pietro Colonnades). These are not my pictures but nice ones. tongue.gif

A really nice package of coins from Elverno -- thank you very much.

A 1972 Mint Set and a 1988 Mint Set -- both with nice clear primo coins.

Also go a nice 1999P Connecticut Quarter MS63 for my Anniversary Signature Set. (The set is a lot of fun. I encourage you to give your own special set a try.)

The Fedex man brought this one yesterday, finally a keeper after 3 coins that arrived loose and damaged. The marks in the photo are on the plastic lens, not on the coin.
