I'm trying to get a set of those pesos among other things.

Well, the same dealer is going to be at another local show in 3 weeks, so if you want, send a list of the dates you need and the prices you'd pay and I'd be happy to pick some up for you. As I recall, they had a lot of nice unc. ones from the 1930s and 1940s for prices ranging from $5 to $9 (and when they tally it up they usually take a little off too!). Just let me know.

I received the Buffalo Commemoratives, UNC & PF versions. Take a look!!
Tiffibunny
Nice! I need those.

Did that guy happen to have any old mexican coppers from the 1830's-1840's? Or any of the old mexican style silvers? (liberty capped obverse) It's hard to find that kinda stuff around here at a reasonable price anymore.

I didn't really look for coppers since I am mainly into silver. I know he has some older 8-reales going back to the 1700s, but those are not unc and not cheap! They may be good prices for what they are, but they were between $200 and $800 which was more than I wanted to spend on a Mexican coin right now. If there is something you are really looking for, let me know and I'll take a look. This dealer is based in Kalamazoo I believe and tends to come to all the montly local shows.

Ooof, yeah I don't think I wanna spend 200-800 on them lol. I was looking for moderately priced liberty capped silver, around 20-30 dollars and old mexican coppers like the one below, hand hammered copper is nifty! biggrin.gif

The Buffalo commems are a nice investment.

Oh, and those old Mexicans are really nice...

With bullion prices going out-of-sight it might be wise to avoid common gold coins...
tommyd
A bunch of old mint, never-hinged American stamps...
tommyd
a stack of really tough 45 RPM records...

Is that ms-66 or better? It looks absolutely gorgeous. Nice hauls guys.

I got 4 nice foreign coins from Tiffibunny, will post pics shortly!

My dad gave me an old box of coins for my B-day. An 1831 Bust half AU w/2 letters cut into obv. a handful of colonial-era coins (all rough except a 1654 farthing) he found while looking for Native American Artifacts in my area, a few old Japanese peso bills, and 10 buffalo nickels, 2 indian head cents, a flying eagle cent, and an 1818 large cent, all ground recovery coins. I don't him often, but when I do he always seems to give me stuff lol. My dads a nice guy, too bad we don't get to hangout more, meh.

Will also post pics soon.
Becky
It's a NGC MS66.....I should have mentioned that biggrin.gif

Now you know why I avoided US coins in the first place, exept I really regret it nowadays as Russian coins seem to be more expensive than US coins these days cry.gif

I've heard good things about this book. There are two different versions, if I've been told correctly. If so, which do you have?
jtryka
I hadn't heard about the two versions, mine is the one that covers 1905-08, the only other version I've heard of was one that covered the minor denomination coins of the teens, but I am not sure that's out yet. Roger Burdette is a member of the NGC forums (RWB is his ID) and I just PM'ed him and he told me how to order it. Many fascinating things, unfortunately I have so little time and about 12 books on my reading list for the summer!

I did a google search and found this info:

Renaissance of American Coinage 1905-1908 is the second of three books exploring the coinage redesign of 1907-1921. A companion volume covering the 1916-1921 period (ISBN 0-9768986-0-8, available from the publisher.) was released in October 2005, and a third volume covering 1909-1915 is planned for release in 2007.

The book is available direct from Seneca Mill Press LLC, PO Box 1423, Great Falls VA 22066 for $64.95 plus $4.50 postage

If you would like a signed copy, just contact Roger through the NGC board and you can request one that is personalized or just signed at no extra cost (you can also just include a note requesting it be signed when you mail in your order).

Really nice PL morgan! I think they look awesome, I just never got around to getting one....I just buy everything else lol.

The mailman was good to me last week! This first one I got in a trade with Vfox (so it's mine as long as he likes the Mexican coins I sent him!). I believe it's an O-102 or O-102a, but I am having a hard time with some of the details to attribute it with certainty.

This next one just arrived today for my type set, and no it does not have an S mintmark on the reverse! doh.gif These small coins are really hard to photograph in NGC slabs!

And this one is just another hole filler in my set, so I figured I'd pick it up while prices are down!

I don't know what it is, but these German coins are starting to grow on me a little! doh.gif
