I remember seeing a picture of a well-worn SBA, and when I say well-worn...I mean well-worn. I have searched for an hour and cannot find it. Will someone please repost it?

Sure is odd. It is weared too evenly starting from the rims and the top surfaces but for the rest, there is too much details on it. Could be possible that someone decided to use sandpaper and blast the rim area and top surfaces away.

Is the pocket piece theory that after carrying it for years it will look like...well...crap?

How's that going for you? Ever let it run through the washer on accident?
Next time I find a SE at bullion value that is going in my pocket.

< It is weared too evenly starting from the rims and the top surfaces but for the rest, there is too much details on it >
Have you ever really noticed that the SBA is in much higher relief than the rest of our coinage? Kind of like the Peace dollar. So even in very low grade there is more detail than you would expect.
I would say that the coin in overgraded. No rims? Good 4? Rims worn more than halfway down into the lettering? Good 4? AG-3 at best.

Ahem....that's the only worn one I've seen. I've never encountered any specimen of SBA which I would grade below AU55, at least not in person where I actually saw the coin at close range. The reason for this is that I've never gotten one in change except from a USPS stamp vending machine.
