In any case, the mintage figures are kind of odd anyway. The €50 gold coin (1 oz), for example, has a maximum authorized mintage of 5,000 - but according to my catalog only 2,000 pieces have been issued so far. I wonder if the MdP simply stops issuing such a piece if there is hardly any further demand (in some cases, the ultimate "tirages réels"

Since Armstrong won so many in a row it must be Armstrong who is depicted
I think the monnaie de paris could not sell their coins at the asking price and therefore their new strategy seems to be coins with a max of 99 pieces
