I recently read in the coin mag. a artical on the rare gold 1930 St.as everyone knows there was only one,and it sold not long ago for 7 million! Now 10 more surfaced from a guy that worked at the minrt back then and his family had them, of course the US goverment tookem!!!!!!said they were illegally taken at the time and are US Goverment property. They do not intend to sell them anytime soon.

a 1930 Saint would indeed be an extreme rarity as they only minted them in San Francisco in 1930! I think you meant to say 1933, which are the subject of much dispute over the legality of owning them privately.

WOW, i want one, and if i was that person, im sorry to say i would have sold it privatly....but thats just me.

This story make me want to keep my 1964 peace dollar hid forever.

I did once see a 1919 Saint being sold on eBay, and that one could have been an extreme rarity too, if it wasn't such an obvious counterfeit!

Maybe the US goverment would be smart to auction off the coins for money and just keep one for the smithsonian inst.what are they going to do withem??that money could be used in better situations than sitting around fort knox!

The Smithsonian already has two of them, they have no need for a third one. As for auctioning them off, don't get ahead of things. The Government may find that they are not the legal owners of them.
