Original. The design seems better suited for gold. That, or maybe it's because the silver modern one has a crummy pic.

You guys made me go back and look at the silver. You are all wrong. Gold.

When I clicked it up, I looked at the silver first. Nice coin. Gee, pretty... Then I clicked on the gold and I got this feeling in my mouth like hunger.

Then, I read the replies.
So, I went back and looked at the silver.
Nice coin, still pretty, but the winner is the gold.
If I were waiting for the guillotine, I would say,
"It is a far, far better coin to own than I have ever owned."

I'm with you, gold just has that certain something.

Of course silver has a different certain something: It's what I can afford

I don't have the gold one on hand for this one to do a direct comparison with, but I do have a 1980's .835 silver restrike of it which (at least for me) is jaw dropping.
