Nice library! I looked long and hard at the Red Book of United States Type Coins and finally concluded that there was very little in there that was not in the standard Redbook - a bit on availability and the like, but nothing real different. Owning it, do you find this to be the case?

I am a Bowers addict so I am a little biased. wink.gif There's a lot of similar information but I like the introductions to the book and each denomination and his tips and discussion on each type.

I plan on getting each of the specialized Redbooks. I think they will make a nice reference library when all is said and done.
AuldFartte
Oh, yeah ... I have a couple of Bowers' books, too. Just not close at hand.

Collectors' Coins; British Coins 1992, 2004 & 2005
Spinks' British Coin Catalogue 1985
Seaby's Coins of England & UK 1993
Coincraft's Standard Catalogue of English & UK Coinage 2000

Redbook 2004
JJ North, English Hammered Coinage c.600-1662

I have a few photocopies here and there. I don't have many coin books because there's not a great deal out there on the market, except Spinks and i don't like Spinks.

My library is pretty pathetic, but at least it serves my needs:

1987, 2002 and 2004 Redbooks, also a 2002 SSCA Commemorative Redbook
Official Guide to Detecting Altered and Counterfeit Coins and Currency
The Cherrypickers' Guide
The US Rare Coin Handbook
The ANA Guide to Counterfeit Detection
The Red Book Guide to Double Eagles
The Complete Guide to Buffalo Nickels by David Lange
History of the United States Mint and Its Coinage by David Lange

And my most used books by far:

Akers' Handbook of 20th Century United States Gold Coins 1907-33
Overton's Early Half Dollar Die Varieties, Third Edition

That's about all I can think of for now!
Ætheling
Sorry about posting twice... i didn't think the one above had gone through!

I'll add the missing to the list as i find them again, having a bit of a reorganise here, but here's what i can think of off the top of my head;

Collector's Coins UK 1992, 2004 & 2005
Coincraft's Standard Catalogue of English and UK coins 2000
Seaby's UK Catalogue 1993
Spinks British Coins Catalogue 1985
Redbook 2004
N. Mayhew's, Sterling the history of the English & UK currency
E. Hawkins, English Silver Coins (London, 1841)
J. J. North, English Hammered Coinage (London, 1999)

And some photocopies of various things; The chapter on Royal Finance and Coinage from H. A. Cronne's book Stephen and the Anarchy; 1135-54

And some photocopies of the studies of the coins of Æthelred II (978-1016) and today i've just picked up a somewhat tatty copy of;

A. Freeman, The Moneyer and the Mint in the Reign of Edward the Confessor 1042-1066; Part II (London, 1985)

Sad thing is as far as i could see only Part II was there, Part I was missing. I'll have a look around and see if i can source it.
