I hope he had an escort with him, I wouldn't be walking around with $10,000 face value on me.
LostDutchman
I have a very large and very heavy fireproof safe.....
Brett

In looking at the picks the note with serial 00169859A looks like it was stamped DUPLICATE was this a fake note?
SugarCheryl
I swear I just want to roll around naked in those....opps did I say that out loud!? bleh.gif
LostDutchman
yes it was stamped duplicate, but it was an original note.....I had to check on that too... I really don't know why they stamped that note like that....but it was a real note.
bobbycoin
Ouch... so it is on the note and not the cover... I was hoping it was the cover.

I wonder if that was done by a govt agency or third party. I cant think of any reason to stamp that on a $1000 bill.

-Bobby
LostDutchman
I can't either, the gentleman who bought them is a currency expert and we poured over that bill for like 20 min....it's definitely real.

Were there any security fetures on the $1000s? Metalic strip around back then?

-Bobby
LostDutchman
nope, they did have the blue and red threads...but that is it....no strips
jtryka
I think the first security threads on US notes was on the series 1990 $100 bill, though I can't recall if the did those on the lower demoninations in 1990 or in the series 1993.
ccg
Perhaps some past collector marked all his doubles and extras "duplicate"? There are some odd folks who mutilate their collectibles.
LostDutchman
it might have been done by the bank......who knows??
